Caught Offside: the footballing website that claim to bring you the 'latest football news, transfer rumors and footballing gossip'. This is the website where the majority of your false transfer window rumors will originate...love to bring up a fantastical rumor in hope of sparking debate of some sort.
The latest of their near-impossible transfer stories is that of Andy Carrol's return to Newcastle FC. The site claim that the 23 year old who 'has been struggling for form since his move to Liverpool last January' would consider a move back to Weirside for only £10 million, a £25 million loss on what Dalglish payed for him in January 2011.
However, the 6ft 3' Geordie's agent responded almost immediately, saying that the striker is 'happy at Liverpool' (source: BBC Sport). Personally I feel that there is absolutely no chance of this deal going ahead, with Newcastle unwilling to spend large sums of money under Mike Ashley, and Liverpool unlikely to sell the young forward for anything less than £25 million. Further, with a long term contract, many playing years in him and a squad around him increasing in quality all the time, he would have to be a very stupid man to leave Liverpool Football Club now.
Verdict: Just rumors, nothing more to it.
